About the position

The RN PreOp PACU I position at Surgicare of Mobile involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures. The role focuses on assessing patients' preoperative and postoperative status, managing recovery from anesthesia, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support patients in their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient's preoperative and postoperative status according to facility policies.
  • Interpret information from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
  • Implement the plan of care for managing patient recovery from various anesthesia types.
  • Communicate the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care.
  • Administer medications safely and correctly using the 8-rights of safe medication administration.
  • Perform interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion.
  • Provide education regarding expected psychosocial responses and pain management to patients and support persons.
  • Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly.
  • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
  • Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of employment if pediatric care is included.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in medical/surgical nursing.
