About the position

The RN PreOp PACU II position at Texas Health Flower Mound Ortho Surgery Center involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures. The role focuses on assessing patients' preoperative and postoperative status, managing recovery from anesthesia, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care and support to patients, aligning with the mission and values of SCA Health.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's preoperative and postoperative status according to facility policies.
• Interpret information from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care for managing patient recovery from various anesthesia types.
• Communicate the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care.
• Provide acute pain and comfort management as needed.
• Administer medications safely and correctly using the 8-rights of safe medication administration.
• Perform interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion.
• Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes and provide hand-off reports to other teammates.
• Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course within 90 days of employment if pediatric care is included.
