About the position

The Pre-Op RN at Memorial Hermann Health System is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in a pre-operative setting. This role involves collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient care, conducting assessments, assisting with exams and treatments, and providing patient education. The position emphasizes a commitment to safety, compassion, and efficiency while fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients according to nursing skills inventory and patient needs.
• Coordinates nursing care planning with an interdisciplinary team and makes clinical decisions in patient care delivery.
• Collaborates with and may delegate tasks to the healthcare team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Coordinates treatment plans and develops/implements discharge and transfer plans.
• Participates in ongoing evaluation of programs and process improvements for client-centered outcomes.
• Considers diverse patient needs throughout the continuum of care to optimize the patient experience.
• Adheres to regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, following all policies and procedures.
• Promotes professional growth and development through continuing education and skills competency.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Bachelor's of Nursing preferred.
• Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
• Certified in Basic Life Support.
• 1-3 years of nursing experience for RN II; 3-10 years for RN III; 10+ years for RN IV.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
