The Registered Nurse (RN) in Day Surgery at Baylor Scott & White Temple plays a crucial role in patient care management, utilizing a nursing practice model to deliver effective care. This position involves cross-training in Pre and Post-operative roles, as well as Patient Assessment Testing (PAT). The RN is responsible for creating and implementing care plans, collaborating with healthcare teams, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize patient needs and create, implement, and assess care plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Adapt care plans as necessary based on patient responses and indicators.
- Observe patient indicators closely and support evidence-based changes with research and hands-on learning.
- Create a caring and safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Build relationships with patients and families while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Focus on managing emotional and physical pain to promote healing and reduce suffering.
- Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients and nursing staff.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care.
- Utilize problem-solving strategies and available resources to support patients, families, and staff.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited nursing course or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 2 years RN experience in a relevant role is expected.
- Hold a BLS certificate now or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
- Registered Nurse License.
