About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at Wellstar Health System, Inc. is a PRN role within the Virtual Care Department, focusing on providing quality nursing services in a supportive and positive environment. The RN will work closely with the patient care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, acting as a crucial intermediary between patients, their families, and healthcare providers. This role emphasizes the importance of maintaining professional competence, confidentiality, and safety standards while supporting Shared Governance through active participation in councils and sponsored activities. In this position, the RN will monitor and evaluate patients' conditions, assist in developing care plans, and take appropriate actions to promote both short-term and long-term patient outcomes. The RN is responsible for delivering care as outlined in the care plan, applying independent judgment when necessary, and ensuring effective communication of patient care plans with other staff members. The RN will prioritize and coordinate daily patient flow to enhance the patient experience, while also maintaining accurate documentation of patient assessments, care delivered, and any incidents related to compliance with hospital policies. Patient advocacy is a key component of this role, as the RN will listen to patient concerns, respond to their needs in a timely manner, and serve as an educational resource for patients and their families. The RN will embrace patient- and family-centered care principles to ensure satisfaction among patients, families, staff, and physicians. Additionally, the RN will seek opportunities for performance improvement, contributing ideas to enhance the work environment and support initiatives aimed at achieving better patient quality outcomes and organizational performance. Professional growth and competency are also emphasized, with the RN expected to maintain licenses and certifications, complete required training, and engage in professional organizations. The RN will foster the development of other nurses through mentorship and preceptorship, contributing to a positive work environment and promoting the nursing profession. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, examines, and evaluates patients' conditions.
  • Assists with the care plan and takes appropriate actions to promote patients' short/long-term outcomes and wellbeing.
  • Delivers care plan as outlined, applying independent judgment where appropriate.
  • Collaborates with and communicates patient care plans with other staff, as appropriate.

  • Serves as an educational resource for patients and families on health-related issues.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License (Single State or Multi-state Compact).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Instructor certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience.
