About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the A6 Cardiac IMC unit provides professional nursing care focused on the comfort and well-being of cardiac patients. This role involves preparing equipment, assisting physicians during examinations, administering medications, and monitoring patient vital signs. The RN participates in patient care planning and implementation, ensuring safe aseptic techniques and procedures while leading support staff in the department.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for patients in the A6 Cardiac IMC unit.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Administer prescribed medications and change dressings.
• Monitor patient vital signs and maintain records on patient care and progress.
• Participate as primary nurse or team leader in planning and implementing patient care.
• Direct and assist in carrying out safe aseptic techniques and procedures.
• Offer leadership and direction to support staff within the department.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
• One-year experience in nursing preferred.
• Current Texas State RN License.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer date.
• EKG certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
