About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Acute MedSurgical unit at CHRISTUS Health provides both routine and complex nursing care to patients. This role requires independent practice and the ability to manage clinical situations effectively. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care, while also addressing the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. This position is PRN (as needed) and involves working in a dynamic hospital environment that serves a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administers medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients and families.
• Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care and functions during assigned shifts.
• Ensures compliance with clinical policies and standards, and provides feedback for improvement.
• Maintains patient safety practices and promotes a safe environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty (preferred).
• Valid RN License in the state of employment or compact.
• BLS Certification required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a pediatric or neonatal intensive care setting.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
