About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiology PACU at Christus Health is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a post-anesthesia care unit. This role involves assessing patient needs, administering medications, and ensuring a safe and effective recovery process. The RN will utilize critical thinking and clinical skills to manage complex patient situations while collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administers medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients and families.
• Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care and functions during assigned shifts.
• Incorporates patient safety practices to promote a safe environment and positive outcomes.
• Participates in departmental staffing needs and resource efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty (preferred).
• BLS certification required.
• RN License in the state of employment or compact.
