About the position

The Ascension Seton RN Fellowship is a full-time program designed for experienced nurses who are looking to transition into a new clinical specialty, specifically within Pediatric Acute Care Rehabilitation. This position is located at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, Texas, and involves working night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with weekend and holiday requirements. The fellowship aims to enhance clinical skills and judgment through a structured transition to practice program, allowing nurses to provide safe, competent, and person-centered care. Participants will float between Dell Children's Medical Center and North Hospital, gaining diverse experience in pediatric care. The fellowship includes a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and offers a supportive environment for professional growth and development. Nurses will work collaboratively with registered nurses and other healthcare team members to deliver high-quality patient care, monitor patient conditions, and implement care plans. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care during their rehabilitation process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Assist with patient care including observation and documentation of patient healthcare needs.
  • Communicate pertinent information to the registered nurse and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Assist with documentation and implementation of physician and nursing orders under the direction of the registered nurse preceptor.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Communicate, monitor, and record changes in patient condition as appropriate.
  • Participate in transition to practice programs to develop clinical thinking and enhanced clinical judgment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire.
