About the position

The RN - Registered Nurse position in the Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology Clinic at OU Health involves providing nursing care under general supervision. The role focuses on patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and ensuring educational needs are met for patients and their families. This position operates during standard business hours, with no call, holidays, or weekend shifts required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient's medical history through interviews using a standard data collection tool.
• Obtain vital signs and brief history of chief complaint.
• Work with the patient and family to develop a prioritized patient problem list and care plan.
• Maintain ongoing monitoring and assessment of assigned patients.
• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients as necessary.
• Administer medications and perform treatments as directed by the physician.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Take emergency action as required.
• Report symptoms and significant changes in patient's condition to appropriate personnel.
• Ensure that the patient/family educational needs are met.
• Evaluate the patient/family response to care and make appropriate adjustments as needed.
• Use available information to evaluate patient/family progress toward goal attainment.
• Perform duties unique to the assigned Unit.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
• Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
• Relevant skills and knowledge of an RN.
• Ability to resolve problems and successfully implement resolutions.
• Ability to work well in a team environment to ensure quality patient care.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good computer skills and typing ability.
• Ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
