About the position

The RN Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of a unit within a healthcare facility, ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with regulations. This role requires extensive clinical experience, administrative skills, and a focus on quality improvement and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee units and ensure quality of care.
• Assist with treatment and medication administration.
• Assist with admissions and participate in family meetings and discharge planning.
• Notify and update insurance companies on admissions, discharges, and changes in condition for managed care residents.
• Attend and participate in weekly Medicare meetings and daily meetings.
• Conduct daily audits of all new admission charts.
• Serve as a liaison between family, patient, doctor, and other departments.
• Investigate all incident reports and follow up accordingly.
• Manage staff assignments to ensure quality of care.
• Report on patient conditions in weekly risk meetings.
• Conduct audits as directed by DNS in annual survey prep.
• Participate in annual evaluations of staff.
• Take on-call hours on weekends and holidays as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid RN License.
• Extensive clinical experience in nursing.
• Prior administrative experience in healthcare settings.
• Training in both nursing and administration.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience in quality improvement.
