About the position

The position involves functioning competently as a member of an interdisciplinary team, characterized by predominantly interdependent decision-making. The practice is problem-focused but patient-centered, ensuring that care is provided in a manner that prioritizes the patient's needs. The role requires the ability to manage unexpected or emergency situations commonly seen in the assigned specialty population, specifically in oncology and hematology.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting two oncologists and two nurse practitioners in the evaluation of oncology and hematology patients by triage in the office setting.
  • Performing technical procedures/skills in the specialty area of oncology, including the administration of medications and treatments specific to cancer care.
  • Flexibility and willingness to cover in the radiation oncology clinic as needed.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with 2 years of clinical experience in the area of Oncology.
  • One year of RN experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Experience in Radiation Oncology is a plus.
  • Must possess and maintain a current RN license to practice in Texas.
  • Must possess and maintain current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS preferred upon hire or must attain within one year of hire.
  • OCN certification is preferred upon hire or must attain within one year of eligibility.
  • Chemotherapy certification through the Oncology Nursing Society is preferred upon hire.
