About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) position at Baylor Scott and White Clinic in College Station, TX, is a full-time role focused on coordinating pre- and post-procedure care for TAVR and Watchman patients. The RN will be responsible for scheduling various tests, educating patients and families, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure effective patient care and insurance approval. This role emphasizes patient assessment, care plan development, and community outreach, all while adhering to nursing standards and ethics.
Responsibilities
- Schedule all pre-procedure testing including Echo, Stress test, CT scan, and Lab work for TAVR and Watchman procedures.
- Coordinate with the OR team, Cardiologists, Cardiovascular surgeons, and Anesthesiologists for scheduling procedures.
- Schedule all post-procedure clinic appointments and scans for Watchman and TAVR patients.
- Work with the coding team to ensure correct diagnosis and insurance coverage for patient approvals.
- Conduct TAVR Registry and community outreach and in-services.
- Educate patients, families, and community members about healthcare choices and needs.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current and valid nursing license.
- BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting.
- Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of health and disease management.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in cardiology or related specialty.
- Familiarity with scheduling and payroll systems.
