About the position

At Gundersen Health System, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient and family-centered care, and we are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our innovative team. This role will leverage technology to provide virtual nursing care in the inpatient Medical & Oncology and Surgical & Digestive Care Unit. As an RN, you will enhance the patient and staff experience by supporting patient care alongside RNs, CNAs, and Interdisciplinary Teams. Candidates must currently hold a .5 or higher FTE RN position in an Acute Hospital setting. While Medical Surgical RN experience is required, experience in Medical & Oncology and Surgical & Digestive Care is preferred. Please note that On-Call and PRN staff are not eligible to apply for this position. Applications are due by September 13th at 12:00 pm (noon).

Responsibilities

  • Work current FTE with hours shared between your current department and virtual nursing department
  • Assist with delegated virtual tasks focusing on admissions, discharges, patient education, dual medication sign off, and nightly rounding
  • Be a valuable resource to peers
  • Help grow and expand the capabilities of virtual nursing
  • Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research
  • Document nursing assessments, planning, interventions, and patient/family responses
  • Evaluate patient progress toward achieving goals and revise care plans as needed
  • Guide and influence others through shared governance and department-based projects
  • Ensure patient safety and engage with patients personally
  • Adhere to regular and predictable attendance

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year RN experience required
  • RN license to work in Wisconsin
  • BLS for health care providers
  • Be adaptable and flexible
  • Be comfortable with a multitude of different technologies

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • 6 months or greater previous experience in nursing
