About the position

The position ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice. Utilizing the Nursing Process, the nurse plans, directs, and supervises the care of patients while also being involved in the provision of direct care to patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality nursing care is rendered to all patients
• Utilize the Nursing Process to plan, direct, and supervise patient care
• Provide direct care to patients and families
• Participate in orientation and continuing education
• Maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise
• Supervise other RN's, LPN's, Nurse Assistants, Secretaries, and Unit Support Aides
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for patient care
• Communicate patient outcomes to health team members
• Promote and provide health care teaching to patients and families
• Participate in performance improvement and monitoring

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of New York
• Maintains current BLS/CPR certification
• Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently and a maximum of 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach
