About the position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital is responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients with acute and emergent medical needs. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for a diverse population ranging from pediatric to elderly adults. The RN must maintain competency in using medical equipment and comply with hospital policies while ensuring patient safety and effective communication within the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
- Establish nursing practice based on current standards of ambulatory and emergency nursing care.
- Recognize and establish priorities for patient care delivery.
- Maintain competency in using medical equipment and comply with hospital policies.
- Communicate clinical information appropriately to support interdisciplinary care.
- Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Perform physical and psychosocial assessments to collect data.
- Utilize assessment data to identify patient care needs, including education and discharge planning.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and legibly.
- Delegate tasks to healthcare team members appropriately.
Requirements
- Current BCLS certification required upon hire.
- Current ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Current PALS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license to practice in the state of New Hampshire.
- One year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience or 6 months of emergency room or critical care nursing experience preferred.
Benefits
- Evening Hours Differential + $1.75
- Night Hours Differential + $3.50
- Weekend Hours Differential + 20%
