About the position

As a Registered Nurse at Baylor Scott & White Health, you will oversee patient care in a Med/Surg setting, focusing primarily on stroke and chest pain patients. This role involves conducting clinical assessments, creating and implementing care plans, and ensuring effective communication with patients and families. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient care and support the well-being of the community.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed clinical assessments of patients.
• Prioritize patient and family needs in care planning.
• Create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Adjust care plans based on patient responses and desired outcomes.
• Educate patients, families, and community members on healthcare choices.
• Document learning needs and patient progress regularly.
• Delegate tasks to team members and follow up on their completion.
• Utilize problem-solving strategies to address patient and family concerns.
• Recognize limitations and prioritize safety and effectiveness in care delivery.
• Contribute to the development of peers and demonstrate community service commitment.

Requirements

• 2 years of Med/Surg experience required.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current and valid nursing license.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of health management.
• Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic medical documentation.
