About the position

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Engineer to architect, design, develop, and test technologies that control and optimize robotic fulfillment operations. This role involves working on highly scalable navigational systems for a worldwide fleet of mobile robots, collaborating with various teams to create cutting-edge automation solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
• Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
• Work with stakeholders across science and operations teams to iterate on design and implementation.
• Maintain high standards by participating in reviews and designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence.
• Prototype and test concepts or features through simulation and with live robotic equipment.
• Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback.
• Mentor other engineering team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
• M.S./Ph.D. in Science or related field.
• Strong background in algorithms and experience in developing algorithms for scalable systems.
• Experience in autonomous path planning or navigational solutions/algorithms.
• Experience developing in Web Services and AWS.
• Robotics expertise with hardware and firmware.
• Experience developing cloud services with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
