About the position

The Robotic Programmer at Ottenweller Company Inc. is responsible for determining suitable production parts for robotic welding applications, designing fixtures, programming robot software, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the efficiency, safety, and quality of robotically welded components. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in machining and programming, along with effective communication skills to liaise between management and operational personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Determine suitable candidates for robotic welding applications based on input from various sources.
  • Act as a liaison between management and personnel operating robotic equipment.
  • Provide estimates on fixture design and production time during the quotation process for new parts.
  • Review blueprints to understand customer requirements and key characteristics of welded parts or assemblies.
  • Collaborate with customers and departments to resolve design questions.
  • Design robotic and tack fixtures as needed.
  • Track the progress of robotic fixtures through the production process.
  • Build fixtures as necessary for production.
  • Work with Programmers and Operators to improve efficiency and tooling.
  • Utilize Moto-Sim or other off-line programming software to expedite programming processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service personnel on maintenance and new robot cell purchases.
  • Maintain knowledge of production robotic equipment and train production personnel in programming and usage.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from a technical school or one year of related experience.
  • Proficiency in MasterCam and Creo or SolidWorks software.
  • Working understanding of metal fabrication and machining processes.
  • Preferably five years of machining center work experience and 2-3 years of programming experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and business correspondence.
  • Strong mathematical skills including geometry and trigonometry.

  • 5 years of machining center work experience.
