About the position

The Robotics and Controls Software Intern position at MedTech Surgery offers an opportunity for students pursuing advanced degrees in engineering to contribute to the development of innovative surgical technologies. Interns will work within a dynamic team focused on creating algorithms and software for robotic surgical systems, enhancing the capabilities of medical treatments.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and navigating large codebases.
  • Developing C++ software for real-time, safety-critical applications.
  • Deploying clean and efficient new code and refactoring existing code to align with production-level coding standards.
  • Participating in software discussions and code reviews with broader teams and quickly incorporating feedback.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or other related Engineering.
  • Strong programming experience in C++.
  • Familiarity working with large codebases and a good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. object-oriented design, data structures, templates, polymorphism in UNIX environments).
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to work in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.
  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong programming experience in Python.
  • Familiarity with robot kinematics and dynamics.
  • Familiarity with classical control theory and estimation techniques.
  • Familiarity with classical mechanics analysis techniques.
