About the position

The Robotics Autonomy Engineer will lead the research and development of multi-agent robotic systems across various operational domains. This role involves designing, building, testing, and demonstrating new autonomy capabilities to solve complex client problems, particularly for DoD clients. The engineer will work independently on complex issues, providing innovative solutions and technical oversight while mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the research and development of multi-agent teams of robotic systems.
  • Design, build, test, and demonstrate new autonomy capabilities.
  • Conduct research and development of novel autonomy solutions for DoD clients.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior- and mid-level engineers.
  • Communicate complex technical topics effectively to various audiences.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with robotics or engineering for equipment systems or hardware.
  • Experience with Robot Operating Systems (ROS).
  • Ability to use ROS for the development of custom messages, nodes, packages, or stacks.
  • Ability to provide software maintenance and deployment, including version control, CI/CD, packaging, containerization, and documentation.
  • Ability to provide backend software development in C++ or Python for embedded Linux systems.
  • Ability to provide algorithms and software support for mobile robot sensing, perception, localization, navigation, and behaviors in aerial or ground domains.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing architectures and algorithms for multi-agent, distributed collaborative autonomy.
  • Experience with Docker image development and container deployment.
  • Knowledge of military strategy, operations, and tactics.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
