About the position

The Robotics Electrical Engineer at Amazon Robotics will work within a multidisciplinary team to design, build, and deliver robotic systems. This role involves developing servo motor-driven subsystems, executing board design revisions, and creating code for board bring-up and functional testing. The engineer will also serve as a subject matter expert on drive electronics and contribute to operations by developing diagnostic tools and documentation for field support.

Responsibilities

  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute new servo motor driven subsystems from concept to production including design, verification, certification and field support.
  • Execute board design revisions: schematic updates, layout updates, coordination of BOM and build procurement.
  • Develop code for board bring-up and manufacturing functional test using multiple programming languages, including C, Python, PLC Structured Text, LabView on PC, PLC, and embedded processor platforms.
  • Drive, motor and encoder subject matter expert: deep-dive drive electronics issues, optimize drive configuration, develop and execute tests to verify functionality.
  • Cabling design, fabrication, documentation, and QC ownership to aid integration of new motors and sensors.
  • Develop field support hardware diagnostics tools, documents, and training to resolve issues in high complexity FC system installations.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with custom industrial motor drive electronics with Ethernet or EtherCAT based fieldbus communications.
  • 1-3 years of experience with schematic entry and layout tools, preferably Altium.
  • 1-3 years of experience with common laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bench supplies).
  • 1-3 years of experience with new board bring up and debug (either hardware or software).
  • 1-3 years of experience with Python and C, with the ability to transition to new languages and platforms.
  • 1-3 years of experience building with quick prototype platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full development life cycle (software, hardware, networks).
  • Experience with hardware and software integration, and real-time systems.
  • Experience with robotics and/or factory automation.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • Maternity and Parental Leave Options
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401(k) Plan
