About the position

The position involves providing technical expertise for robotic applications within the manufacturing processes at Cosma International. The role focuses on ensuring product quality and continuous improvement by troubleshooting robotic systems, performing maintenance, and training team members. The technician will play a crucial role in maintaining safety standards while optimizing robotic operations and supporting production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that operator safety devices function properly.
  • Program complex robotic systems, such as vision systems.
  • Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems, reprogramming or calibrating to achieve maximum quantity and quality.
  • Provide support to assembly operators and plant skill trades about robots functionality.
  • Ability to perform electrical diagnosis, recommend repair or repair as needed.
  • Support goal of achieving first time quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation resulting in shared knowledge of issues and lessons learned.
  • Troubleshoot and train others on identifying root causes of equipment failures.
  • Facilitate on-the-job team member training.
  • Oversee all upgrades and programming changes.
  • Ensure that line is built in accordance to all aspects of the latest version of the LMV Automotive Systems build standards.
  • Utilize good working knowledge of all technologies used in the development and build of automated assembly lines.
  • Ensure effective deployment of all available resources.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to manufacturing issues related to product development or enhancement.
  • Execute equipment efficiency studies, through time and motion studies, or standard data to ensure effective line balancing.
  • Monitor and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Handle confidential information on a regular basis.
  • Follow and support LMV Automotive Systems' and Magna's operating principles, including safety and quality policies.
  • Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited technical college or post-secondary school with emphasis on Robotics.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, CAD viewer programs, and Robotic Programming.
  • Experience in robot programming and integration of associated systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as appropriate.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Exhibit high integrity and honesty.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, equipment instructions, requirements, and business correspondences.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
