About the position

As a Robotics Systems and Applications Engineer at GrayMatter Robotics, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and optimizing robotic systems to ensure smooth operations in the manufacturing industry. This role involves diagnosing complex system issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing effective solutions to enhance customer satisfaction. You will work onsite in Gardena, CA, and may travel to customer sites to resolve critical production issues.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, including hardware, software, and mechanical components.
  • Travel (25-40%) to customer sites to troubleshoot and resolve critical, production-blocking issues.
  • Work closely with the support team to investigate and resolve tickets related to software bugs, hardware malfunctions, and system failures.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement solutions for hardware and software problems.
  • Apply practical robotics experience to troubleshoot and optimize robotic systems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of issues, solutions, and system changes.

Requirements

  • BS in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar engineering.
  • 3+ years experience with Robotics, Automation or cyber-physical systems.
  • Basic programming knowledge in ROS, C++, Python, or other similar languages.
  • Proficiency in working with Linux-based systems.
  • Proven track record of solving technical problems effectively and independently.
  • Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time nationwide.
  • Experience with systems programming and hardware and software integration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the robotics industry or robotics lab environment.
  • Experience in tuning and optimizing systems.
  • Experience working in customer-facing roles, especially in technical support or customer success.
  • Familiarity with software debugging and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Strong documentation skills, with a focus on maintaining accurate logs.
