About the position

The Robotics Engineer position at the U.S. Mint's West Point facility involves providing engineering services and support for the maintenance and operation of industrial automation equipment. The role focuses on planning, troubleshooting, and programming various automation systems to ensure efficient production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, select, troubleshoot, and program various industrial automation equipment, systems, and components.
  • Review design and computations performed by technicians for technical adequacy and recommend approval or corrective action.
  • Develop schedules for preventive maintenance, repair procedures, operational charts, and records for industrial automation equipment and automation programs.
  • Recommend plans, provide consultative support, technical specifications, standards, and directions for all technical requirements of the automated production equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in the Federal service, including developing, implementing, and supporting automation, robotics, and vision systems projects in a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience in starting-up, troubleshooting, and supporting automated systems including robotics and vision systems in a production environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
