About the position

As a Robotics Engineer at Magna, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise for robotic applications, ensuring product quality and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting robotic systems, performing preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime, and prioritizing safety in all operations. You will also be tasked with training and providing technical support to Production and Skilled Trade Team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle the equipment and methodologies involved in robotic operations. In this role, you will train all in-house skilled trades on a variety of equipment, preventive maintenance procedures, and methodologies. You will ensure that operator safety devices function properly while programming complex robotic systems. Additionally, you will perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components, evaluate the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems, and reprogram or calibrate them to achieve maximum quantity and quality. Your expertise will also be required in performing electrical diagnosis, recommending repairs, and troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment failures. It is essential that the production line adheres to the latest build standards, and you will ensure compliance in this area. We are looking for a talented Robotics Engineer who is dedicated to advancing robotics technology. You should possess advanced math skills that can be applied to cost analysis and data evaluation, as well as the ability to analyze and troubleshoot equipment and processes. Flexibility in working hours is necessary to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Train all in-house skilled trades in a variety of equipment, PM's and methodologies
  • Ensure that operator safety devices function properly while programming complex robotic systems
  • Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components
  • Evaluate the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems, reprogramming or calibrating to achieve maximum quantity and quality
  • Perform electrical diagnosis, recommend repair or repair as needed
  • Troubleshoot and train others on identifying root causes of equipment failures
  • Ensure that the line is built in accordance with all aspects of the latest version of the build standards

Requirements

  • Minimum Two-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field
  • 2-5 years' experience with robots and PLC control systems in a robotic welding process environment, preferably in an industrial automotive setting
  • Fanuc DCS Certification required, if not certified, must gain certification within 6 months
  • Experience with AutoCAD, CAD viewer programs
  • Familiar with Advanced Product Quality Planning methods
