About the position

At Western Digital, the Robotics Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining specific tools on a Media manufacturing line within a class 100 cleanroom environment. This position requires a proactive individual who can work with minimal supervision and is willing to take initiative. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, creative problem-solving abilities, and exemplary communication skills, along with the capacity to think on their feet. The role involves performing routine preventive maintenance according to a set schedule and adhering to the Manufacturing Maintenance Manual (MMM) procedures for the assigned tool set. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for identifying the purposes and goals of robotic applications or machines in Media development, creating prototypes based on early designs, and conducting quality control and function tests to gauge performance. The technician will also determine the causes of malfunctions and errors, ensuring adherence to developing timelines and budgetary guidelines throughout all stages of the design process. Monitoring the performance of newly deployed applications and machines is essential, as is the ability to write reports, usage instructions, and maintenance guidelines for robotics systems. This position requires a Bachelor's or AA degree in Robotic Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field, along with 3 to 5 years of experience working with Adept and Epson robots in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and expertise in using tools such as welding and soldering equipment are also necessary. The technician will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication abilities to explain complex terms to non-experts and compose clear manuals and instructions.
