About the position

The Robotics Hardware Co-Op position at Johnson & Johnson is designed for students pursuing degrees in engineering fields. This role offers hands-on experience in the orthopedics sector, allowing interns to work closely with R&D engineers on various projects that enhance their professional skills and understanding of the medical technology industry. The co-op will take place in the Spring of 2025, with opportunities for subsequent sessions based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with R&D Engineers to set up design of experiments and testing environments.
  • Create and populate databases of critical R&D data.
  • Attend engineering and cross-functional team meetings (in-person and online).
  • Create summary reports using good documentation practices.
  • Create design control documents.
  • Support and test mechanical, electrical, and/or software designs.
  • Become familiar with medical terminology, procedures, and instrumentation.
  • Promote teamwork during internal and external interactions.
  • Present final project(s) to other engineers and leaders within the department.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum completion of undergraduate freshman year prior to co-op start date.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (ex. H1-B, F-1).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects while delivering results.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and contribute to team goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leadership/participation with campus programs and/or service programs is desired.
