We have an immediate need for a Robotics Paint Engineer at our aerospace location in Troy, Ohio. The primary focus of this role is to plan, develop, and implement new thermal spray, coatings, and paint processes as part of the restoration of aerospace components. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of the painting processes used in aerospace manufacturing, which is essential for maintaining the high standards required in the industry. The Robotics Paint Engineer will provide daily production support to troubleshoot issues with thermal spray systems, protective coatings, and paint. This includes selecting, preparing, and mixing solutions or coatings according to formulas and specifications, as well as creating spray recipes and sequences for spraying. The engineer will set up and operate various configurations of manual, semi-automatic, and robotic spray systems, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally. In addition to operational responsibilities, the engineer will generate, revise, document, test, and implement control programs for robotic, automated, and semi-automated spray systems. Training technicians on new process implementation for thermal spray systems, coatings, and paint is also a key responsibility. The engineer will provide direction on proper routine and preventative maintenance for spray/coating equipment and perform standardized testing on spray samples to ensure coating quality. The role also involves process controls and improvements, where the engineer will analyze, develop, and recommend methods to meet production requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce turnaround times for products and/or processes. This includes establishing, analyzing, and acting upon measures of performance related to processes, investigating and initiating corrective actions for problems and deficiencies, and determining necessary actions to develop and implement new spray processes based on engineering data. The Robotics Paint Engineer will contribute to the planning and conduct of repair trials to generate data for new repairs or to support existing repairs, analyze and document the results of these trials, and propose, research, and perform cost-benefit analyses for new equipment purchases. Coordination with outside resources, including contractors and equipment vendors, is essential for process support, improvement, or repair development. The engineer will also provide support, technical expertise, and experience to the Engineering team necessary to develop new repairs on aerospace components, while remaining current with state-of-the-art technologies for thermal spray, protective coatings, and paint processes. Observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting any unsafe practices or conditions is a critical aspect of this role, along with carrying out special projects as assigned.
