About the position

As a Robotics Software Engineer II at our Boston, MA facility, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing industrial automation and robotic systems that are intended for large-scale deployment. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and collaborative skills, as you will be working closely with both internal teams and external vendors to ensure the successful integration and performance of robotic systems. Your responsibilities will include testing concepts and features using simulators and emulators, as well as with live equipment, to validate the functionality and reliability of the systems you develop. In this role, you will collaborate with internal hardware and software teams to define component specifications and facilitate system integrations. You will also be responsible for developing functional software and hardware specifications, as well as design verification plans and test procedures. Partnering with external vendors will be essential for the development, testing, and deployment of systems at scale. Additionally, you will work with internal operations stakeholders to gather system feedback and measure performance, ensuring that the systems meet operational requirements and standards. A key aspect of your role will be to identify and mitigate development and integration risks, ensuring that projects stay on track and meet deadlines. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Test concepts and features through simulators, emulators, and with live equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal Hardware and Software teams in component specifications, system integrations, testing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Develop functional software and hardware specifications, design verification plans, and test procedures.
  • Partner with external vendors to develop, test, and deploy systems at scale.
  • Work with internal operations stakeholders to obtain system feedback and measure system performance.
  • Identify and mitigate development/integration risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 1 year of experience.
  • 1 year of experience programming 6-axis robotic systems (ABB, Kawasaki, FANUC, RAPID, RobotStudio).
  • Experience developing applications for computer vision systems such as Cognex barcode scanning and 2D/3D cameras.
  • Experience with 2D or 3D engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Experience developing applications in material handling systems.
  • Experience participating or leading Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.
  • Experience reviewing and contributing to electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming.
