The Robotics Systems Engineer II is a pivotal member of the Amazon Robotics deployment team, responsible for overseeing the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment in both new and existing fulfillment centers. This role is primarily field-based and requires a strong technical background in deploying robotic equipment, which includes working with mechanical, electrical, networking, and software systems during deployments. Candidates should possess prior experience with complex electro-mechanical and networked systems, as well as a history of leading the installation, maintenance, upgrades, or troubleshooting of these systems. In this position, the Systems Engineer will collaborate with a team of 1-5 engineers and an on-site project manager to provide technical oversight during the installation of both third-party and Amazon-designed robotics equipment. The role necessitates extensive collaboration with third-party installers, contracted engineers, construction teams, hardware and software teams, IT, and various other partner teams. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with both internal and external partners and customers. As an Amazonian, the candidate is expected to demonstrate independent initiative in identifying and solving problems in real-time during projects, as well as driving continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurrences. The robotics systems deployed may be at various stages of their product life cycle, and when supporting new products, the candidate will be responsible for leading the development of process documentation and modifying existing processes. A strong technical understanding, a passion for fieldwork, and a keen interest in exploring the intricacies of the various robotics systems utilized by Amazon are critical for success in this role. Candidates should be prepared for project durations that can range from a few days to several months, with travel across the US being a requirement of 75%. International work opportunities are also available for those interested. A valid US driver's license is required, and while relocation to Amazon Corporate offices in Seattle, Boston, Detroit, or Nashville is supported, it is not mandatory.
