About the position

The Test Engineer is responsible for developing and executing test plans, procedures, and protocols for complex prototypes and production electromechanical systems, including robotic arms and unmanned ground vehicles. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure product quality and performance through effective testing and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols for electromechanical systems.
  • Select test equipment and develop test automation scripts or software.
  • Write test procedures and troubleshooting instructions.
  • Provide ongoing support and improvements during product development and testing.
  • Assist in fabrication, troubleshooting, testing, and warranty service of prototypes.
  • Collaborate with sales, quality, manufacturing, service personnel, and engineering groups.
  • Process manufacturing data and generate test reports.
  • Communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, vendors, and customers.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of professional engineering work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field preferred, or relevant work experience.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Experience with motor control and sensor interfacing.
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • Software development skills in C/C++/Python.
  • Data analysis skills using Excel, Python, or Matlab.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experience operating a lathe, mill, and welder (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in standard business software packages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with instrumentation and tools for debugging and testing electromechanical systems.
  • Experience creating technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with industry test protocols such as MIL-STD 810 and 461.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with operating a coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
