About the position

Symbotic is at the forefront of revolutionizing warehouse automation through its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform. We are seeking a Robotics Test Engineering Manager to join our System Test organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in the development and validation of our advanced warehouse automation systems. You will lead a team of Robotic Test Engineers who are responsible for ensuring the functional performance and reliability of our mobile robots. This position is critical as you will serve as a key stakeholder in the product development process, contributing to the growth of our organizational processes, tools, and talent. As the Robotics Test Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive test strategies and methods. You will drive the growth of your team through effective coaching and hiring plans, setting high standards for detailed test planning, clarity of metrics, and thorough test reporting. You will organize, track, and report the status of test objectives throughout new product development projects, ensuring that product function and reliability requirements are mapped to test cases with traceability throughout the product lifecycle. Additionally, you will develop test environments, tools, and capital equipment with a focus on scalability, robustness, and cost-effectiveness. Implementing efficiency and automation in all aspects of the test process and workflows will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also guide root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to resolve systemic issues, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Robotic Test Engineers to develop comprehensive test strategies and methods.
  • Drive team and individual growth through coaching and hiring plans.
  • Set a high standard for detailed test planning, clarity of metrics, and thorough test reporting.
  • Organize, track, and report status of test objectives throughout new product development projects.
  • Map product function and reliability requirements to test cases and provide traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop test environments, tools, and capital equipment with emphasis on scalability, robustness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement efficiency and automation in all aspects of test process and workflows.
  • Guide root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to resolve systemic issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.S. in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with a focus on testing products with a high degree of hardware and software complexity, preferably robotics or automation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading and managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple end-to-end test projects for new product development.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with motion control systems, motors, sensors, vision systems, and communications protocols.
  • Experienced in methods for reliability growth and accelerated life testing.
  • Experienced with product life data analysis tools.
  • Experience with test management tools and programming languages is a plus.
