As a Rod Mill Production Operator I at Freeport-McMoRan, you will play a crucial role in the production process at our Miami smelter and rod plant located in Claypool, Arizona. This facility is integral to our operations, processing copper concentrate primarily sourced from our Arizona copper mines. The smelter is not only a significant contributor to our production but also serves as the primary source of sulphuric acid for our North American leaching operations. In this position, you will assist in various production processes, including casting, milling, coiling, shipping, and operating heavy industrial equipment. You will be expected to complete the necessary skill level criteria as part of the progression program, which includes performing labor-type work and adhering to safety standards. This role requires effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure compliance with training and safety protocols. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate the ability to apply your knowledge and skills effectively, pass a written assessment, and meet the progression criteria defined by the company. You will also need to be physically capable of ascending and descending ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and be willing to learn and adapt to new job-related tasks as required.
