About the position

The CDL Driver position at Rogue Disposal and Recycling, a Waste Connections company, involves safely operating collection equipment for the efficient collection of solid waste. The role requires excellent customer service skills, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently while completing necessary administrative tasks. Drivers will be cross-trained on various types of garbage trucks and are expected to maintain accurate records and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate collection equipment for solid waste collection.
  • Complete required administrative paperwork using an On-Board-Computer.
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of collected material.
  • Drive truck to collect waste prepared in carts or containers.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles.
  • Maintain and submit a daily service log using On-Board-Computer.
  • Complete daily reports on pre and post trip inspections of equipment.
  • Fuel vehicle daily and maintain its physical appearance.
  • Assist Leadman with customer improvements through service and equipment upgrades.
  • Monitor over and under filled carts/containers to assess service requirements.
  • Provide technical support for design of enclosures and operational requirements.
  • Participate in training and initiatives to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B with ability to obtain Class A.
  • 2 years of professional commercial driving experience.
  • Meets insurance company standards for a good driving record.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technologies.
  • English reading, writing, verbal, and map reading skills.
  • Attention to detail for accuracy in records and reports.
  • Verbal and interpersonal skills for effective communication with customers and employees.
  • Basic mathematics skills for calculations.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 65 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to move heavy containers and work with mechanical tools.
  • Mobility to climb in and out of vehicle and walk on various surfaces.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Pass drug and alcohol tests as per DOT and company standards.

  • Experience with automated commercial waste collection equipment.
  • Knowledge of hazardous material identification and handling practices.
  • Knowledge of fire and emergency practices.
