About the position
The Roll Turner position at Nucor Steel Auburn involves working collaboratively within a team to ensure high-quality service to the Rolling Mill by operating CNC Lathe machines. The role requires tracking and documenting roll sets, maintaining roll inventory, and utilizing computer resources for program loading and work order management. Candidates must be adaptable to assist in various areas of the Roll Shop and Rolling/Finishing Mill as needed, while adhering to strict safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate multiple CNC Lathe machines to turn various rolls.
- Track and document roll sets and maintain a current roll inventory.
- Utilize computer resources to load programs and manage work orders.
- Assist in all areas of the Roll Shop and Rolling/Finishing Mill as needed.
- Uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Requirements
- 2 years of CNC Lathe experience, including programming and setup.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous roll turning experience.
- Knowledge of job-specific software such as AutoCAD and/or Gibbs Cam.
- Industrial mechanical experience.
- 2-4 year technical degree.
- Rolling mill experience.
