About the position

The Rolling Mill Trainee position at Magnetic Technologies Corporation involves setting up and operating cluster mills and Stanat mills, both in cold and hot conditions. The role is essential in ensuring that a wide variety of alloys are processed to meet specific final strip requirements, particularly in terms of gauge tolerances and appearance. The trainee will be responsible for selecting shape rolls, managing tensions, and determining reductions necessary for the rolling process. This position requires precision, as the alloys must be rolled to specified dimensions as low as .0001 inches. In addition to operating the mills, the trainee will need to detect any operating difficulties and perform minor repairs and adjustments to the mechanical components of the equipment. This includes selecting the appropriate rolls and passes for each operation, as well as assembling and disassembling the metalworking portions of the mills. The role also involves operating spot welders to attach strips to leader strips, loading, unloading, and degreasing strips, and calculating the length and weight of coils. Maintaining accurate work records and properly identifying materials are also key responsibilities. The trainee will be expected to keep the machines clean and assist in making machine repairs as needed, while also operating auxiliary equipment and supporting other areas of the production process as required. Compliance with all company rules and regulations is mandatory.
