About the position

The Roof Lead is a critical role within the residential solar installation team, responsible for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various surfaces, including rooftops and ground mounts. This position requires a combination of technical skills, safety awareness, and leadership capabilities. The Roof Lead will engage in daily activities that include measuring, cutting, drilling, and performing minor electrical work, all while adhering to strict safety protocols and quality standards. The role also involves assisting with structural upgrades and utilizing both hand and power tools effectively. The Roof Lead must be able to read and interpret plan sets and follow directions accurately to ensure successful project completion. In addition to technical skills, the Roof Lead is responsible for ensuring that all work performed on the PV array is done safely and in compliance with Freedom Forever's policies and applicable codes, such as NFPA-70 and IRC. This position requires constant communication with the crew lead and other team members to coordinate tasks and maintain project timelines. The Roof Lead will also be responsible for driving the company vehicle to transport materials and equipment to job sites, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring that all components are assembled efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of PV installation experience, including at least six months in a leadership role. This experience should encompass basic electrical work and PV installation techniques, such as racking and module installation. The Roof Lead must demonstrate the ability to perform electrical work both independently and under supervision, ensuring that all installations meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various surfaces including rooftops and ground mounts.
  • Drive company vehicle to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
  • Load and unload project materials from the vehicle to the installation site.
  • Perform all PV electrical work independently or under direct supervision.
  • Provide direction and task assignments for all work performed at the PV array.
  • Maintain constant communication with the crew lead and other team members.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Freedom Forever policies and applicable codes.
  • Follow all safety regulations and policies set by Freedom Forever.

Requirements

  • 1 year of PV installation experience is required, including a minimum of 6 months leading an installation crew.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and experience with PV installation (racking and module install).
