The Roof Lead is a critical role within the solar installation team, responsible for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various surfaces, including rooftops and ground mounts. This position requires a combination of technical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Roof Lead will engage in daily activities that include measuring, cutting, drilling, and performing minor electrical work, all while adhering to strict safety protocols and company policies. The role also involves assisting with structural upgrades and using both hand and power tools effectively. The Roof Lead must ensure that all work performed on the PV array meets the quality standards set by Freedom Forever and complies with applicable codes such as NFPA-70, IRC, and others. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Roof Lead is expected to provide direction and task assignments to the installation crew, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and on time. This includes maintaining constant communication with the crew lead and updating them on project progress. The Roof Lead may also be required to communicate directly with customers to ensure their satisfaction with the installation process. The position may involve some domestic travel, and the Roof Lead will be expected to perform other duties as assigned by management. To succeed in this role, candidates must possess a strong understanding of PV systems and installation methods, as well as the ability to motivate and mentor team members. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment are essential. The Roof Lead must also be physically capable of performing the demands of the job, including working at heights and lifting heavy materials.
