About the position

The Rooms Controller is responsible for managing the hotel's room inventory to maximize revenue and ensure quality service levels for guests. This role involves collaboration with various operational departments, including Revenue Management and Front Desk, to effectively block and allocate rooms, manage inventory discrepancies, and participate in strategic meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the hotel is set up for success by appropriately blocking guestrooms and balancing room types to enhance revenue opportunities.
  • Block VIPs and identified members into upgraded room types while allocating the proper number of rooms for upgrades performed by the front desk.
  • Manage Out of Order and Out of Service room inventory, coordinating with Housekeeping, Engineering, and Front Desk.
  • Participate in Group Strategy meetings to manage group inventory at the room type level.
  • Ensure inventory across Property Management System (Galaxy), Revenue Management System (ROS), and Central Reservations System (Valhalla) are balanced and take corrective action for variances.
  • Perform any tasks assigned by Revenue Management or Hotel Leadership team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Solid working knowledge of hotel operations and inventory management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supervising experience is preferred.
