About the position
The Head Custodian at Roosevelt Elementary School is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and safety of the school environment. This full-time position involves leading a team of custodians to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors, while adhering to health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff.
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing all areas of the school.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with and supervise the setup and teardown for school events or activities as needed.
- Adhere to and enforce health and safety regulations and school policies.
- Secure the building at the end of the shift, ensuring all doors and windows are locked.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Reliable and able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- 2nd Class C Boilers License or able to obtain.
