About the position

Apollo MedFlight is seeking skilled rotor wing pilots to join their team as they expand their partnership with HCA Healthcare in Houston. The role of the Pilot-in-Command involves ensuring the safe operation of the aircraft, managing medical crew members, and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities

  • Retain final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Ensure the assigned aircraft is airworthy and all proper documents are onboard.
  • Make decisions regarding flight acceptance, rejection, or termination based on operating conditions.
  • Adhere to Crew Resource Management (CRM) techniques and seek input from medical crew members.
  • Represent Apollo positively to customers, employees, and patients.
  • Participate in the Apollo Safety Management System.
  • Ensure proper fuel loading on the aircraft.
  • Obtain flight briefings on purpose, weather, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with weight and balance requirements of the Flight Manual.
  • Report FAA violations or incidents to the Chief Pilot.
  • Maintain a current medical certificate and notify the Chief Pilot of any impairments.
  • Perform all aircraft equipment checks properly.
  • Brief medical crew members and passengers for each flight phase.
  • Report maintenance discrepancies to appropriate personnel and alert the Operational Control Center.
  • Be knowledgeable of the General Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, and other relevant documents.
  • Participate in the pre-flight risk assessment process.
  • Responsible for Tier Two operational control functions.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Valid pilot's license with rotor wing endorsement.
  • Current medical certificate as required by Apollo.
  • Experience in air medical transport or similar aviation roles.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to operate under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced aviation technology and aircraft systems.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR).
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within aviation.
