About the position
The Route Service Manager at Interstate Batteries is responsible for delivering batteries and providing exceptional customer service to a predetermined route of customers and dealers. This role emphasizes building strong relationships with dealers, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining high service standards while adhering to safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver batteries to customers and dealers on a predetermined route in a timely manner.
- Follow all Environmental Health and Safety rules and policies.
- Establish, build, and maintain good dealer relationships.
- Complete documentation on a timely basis.
- Maintain the route by keeping displays clean and updating the dealer list.
- Invoice all units that fail to last the warranty period.
- Rotate batteries to maintain quality product and service standards.
- Collect and handle payments on account, including cash, checks, and money orders.
- Collect and return junk and/or used batteries.
- Load and unload the truck.
Requirements
- Must possess current DOT Medical Certification and maintain a clean driving record.
- A Class A or B Commercial Drivers License may be required depending on the equipment operated.
- Prior driving and customer service experience is highly desirable.
- Good communication skills are essential.
- Strong customer service skills are required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is necessary.
- Ability to read, write, and compute basic math.
