About the position
The Route Trainee position at UniFirst is designed for individuals looking to start a career in Route Service. This role involves supporting Route Service Representatives by assisting with loading and unloading trucks, delivering and picking up customer products, and maintaining vehicle safety. The position is dynamic and requires both indoor and outdoor work, with routes serviced during daytime hours from Monday to Friday, allowing for personal and family time during nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Support Route Service Representatives with loading and unloading trucks.
- Deliver and pick up customer products along assigned routes.
- Maintain vehicle safety and appearance.
- Cover assigned routes when needed, driving a company vehicle.
- Service customers professionally and resolve any issues that arise.
- Ensure accurate invoice inventories and perform inventory audits.
- Maintain route vehicle reports and conduct safety inspections.
- Assist with daily account collections and Account Receivable collections.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
- Must meet pre-employment DOT physical requirements.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong communication and language skills.
- Basic computer proficiency is needed.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior customer service experience.
- Experience in route sales or delivery.
- Entrepreneurial experience is preferred.
