About the position
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) position at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center involves providing quality, patient-centered care in the Respiratory Unit. The role focuses on patient assessments, education, and monitoring therapies related to pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders. The ideal candidate will work in various care settings, including ICU and acute care, and will have opportunities for professional development and cross-training.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and testing related to pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders.
- Provide patient education and monitor compliance with prescribed therapies.
- Utilize Respiratory Driven Protocols to manage patients in ICU and acute care areas.
- Assist in intubation and insertion of A-lines after competency completion.
- Attend deliveries and provide respiratory care for NICU patients.
- Perform outpatient and inpatient pulmonary function tests (PFTs).
- Conduct inpatient EKGs and assist in bronchoscopy procedures.
- Manage various types of ventilators and respiratory equipment.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences.
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Licensed by the State of Georgia under the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Previous working experience in respiratory care or successful completion of department-specific orientation.
