About the position

The RS Electrical Systems Specialist at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of avionics systems on Gulfstream aircraft. This position serves as a liaison across various departments including Customer Service Operations, Vendors, Quality Assurance, and Engineering, facilitating timely and effective solutions for avionics systems. The specialist is responsible for building strong customer relationships, particularly in troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of aircraft systems, support equipment, and operational issues related to in-service products. This role requires a deep understanding of avionics, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to verify and perform checks in accordance with engineering and maintenance documentation. The specialist will engage in cockpit and cabin checkouts, avionics installations, and aircraft test flights, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as STC, FAA, and EASA. In this position, the specialist will work under minimal supervision, providing guidance on installation, service, repair, and maintenance of Gulfstream aircraft systems. They will interface with various teams including Quoting/Sales, Technical Operations, Engineering, and Inspection/Return to Service to support installations, configurations, modifications, and troubleshooting. The specialist will also be involved in the planning and execution phases of projects, identifying potential issues and developing troubleshooting procedures. Additionally, they will coordinate the development and evaluation of test equipment for Gulfstream aircraft and provide training and coaching to avionics technicians on newly implemented systems. The role requires a proactive approach to customer satisfaction, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and effectively, and may involve travel to customer facilities for repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance on installation, service, repair, replacement, modification, and maintenance of Gulfstream aircraft systems.
  • Interface with Quoting/Sales, Tech Ops, Engineering, and Inspection/Return to Service to support installs, configurations, modifications, certifications, and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Identify potential problems during the planning, installation, and checkout phases of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with STC, FAA, and EASA standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Identify problems, trends, and troubleshoot in-service aircraft.
  • Develop, prepare, and update troubleshooting procedures.
  • Coordinate the development and evaluation of test equipment for Gulfstream aircraft.
  • Configure aircraft systems and provide feedback on potential compatibility issues.
  • Assist customers with subscription services and training on new systems installed on the aircraft.
  • Work with manufacturers and vendors to validate software or configuration changes for testing purposes.
  • Provide training and workplace coaching to avionics technicians on implemented aircraft systems.
  • Support customer satisfaction by resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Devise alternative approaches to solve complex aircraft system and support equipment operational conditions.
  • Support road trips to repair discrepancies at customer facilities.
  • Work independently to analyze, identify, and correct defects in systems with minimal downtime.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Aviation Avionics or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 years of Avionics/Electrical experience required.
  • A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.
  • Repairman certificate preferred.
  • Other FCC license preferred.
  • Other NCATT Certification preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, technical manuals, and aircraft maintenance records system.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Good understanding of Windows computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with DOS for troubleshooting purposes on LAN systems.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computer networking and software loading.
  • Experience with troubleshooting avionics systems in a customer service environment.
