About the position

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) at Lincare Inc. is responsible for performing monthly vent check assessments in a timely and professional manner. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care in the home healthcare setting. The RT will be responsible for completing vent check assessments and supply orders, as well as logging and tracking appropriate patient and ventilator information. This position requires a strong commitment to patient education, as the RT will provide guidance based on individual patient needs and Lincare's policies. In addition to performing remote vent checks, the RT will maintain current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts. Adherence to the Safety & Regulatory Manual is essential, including compliance with OSHA regulations, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, and understanding of DOT and FDA guidelines. The RT will represent Lincare through professional appearance and conduct, ensuring that all patient care activities and written reports reflect the company's standards. The role also involves facilitating prescription collection and maintaining patient records in a complete and organized manner, in compliance with accreditation standards. The RT will work closely with doctors, referral sources, and patients, requiring excellent human relations skills and a strong ability to communicate effectively. This position is vital for the delivery of quality respiratory care in the home setting, and the RT will play a key role in the training of other healthcare specialists as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly vent check assessments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete vent checks and supply orders.
  • Log and track appropriate patient and ventilator information.
  • Provide patient education according to patient needs and Lincare policy.
  • Maintain current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts.
  • Follow applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA, DOT, FDA, and Emergency Planning.
  • Represent Lincare through professional personal appearance and patient care activities.
  • Facilitate prescription collection.
  • Maintain patient records in a complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting or other experience in patient care.
  • Must complete 1 week of field training with a center RT.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in home healthcare for Level 2.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in home healthcare for Level 3.
  • Must have excellent human relations skills to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must have completed all training/education required to obtain requisite certification, registration, and/or license.
  • Must be a clinician authorized within his/her scope of practice to provide all patient care services offered by Lincare.
  • Will be required to obtain additional State licensing for States assigned.
  • Must remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicable state and/or national board governing his/her clinical practice.
