About the position

The Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) Materials Process Engineer at BWX Technologies, Inc. is responsible for supporting production operations as the technical lead and subject matter expert in development engineering with Silicide for Research Test Reactors (RTR). This role involves troubleshooting production and quality issues, coordinating job order information, and developing operational procedures and technical reports. The engineer will also collaborate with vendors for raw material procurement and respond to customer inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Support production operations as the technical lead and subject matter expert for development engineering with Silicide for Research Test Reactors (RTR).
• Troubleshoot and analyze production and quality issues.
• Identify and implement solutions to production challenges.
• Coordinate job order information for production and development activities.
• Write and update operational procedures and technical reports.
• Develop equipment functional specifications and follow established change management and safety evaluation processes for equipment installation projects.
• Identify and collaborate with vendors in procuring raw materials.
• Respond to customer inquiries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A minimum of a Master's degree in Engineering or Physics.
• Seven (7) years of relevant experience is required.
• Preferred disciplines include Materials Science, Chemical, Mechanical, or Nuclear.
• At least four (4) years of development experience is required.
• Background in metals/alloys and metal matrix composites preferred.
• Demonstrable skills and knowledge of CAD software, preferably Solid Edge.
