About the position

The Ruminant Territory Sales Manager is a key member of the field sales team at Merck, responsible for driving sales of animal health products within the South Central Kansas region. This role focuses on understanding customer needs, promoting the company's products, and collaborating with various teams to enhance customer engagement and market share. The position requires a strong emphasis on planning, execution, and teamwork to achieve sales targets and support the company's customer-centric business model.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company's Animal Health/Animal Health Intelligence within a geographical base made up of different segments of the beef complex.
  • Promote the use of technology as a value add and expertise of the company.
  • Work with team members, territory managers, and regional management to plan and implement the sales planning process.
  • Identify segment customers that can significantly impact market share and enlist support from company resources to execute tactics.
  • Plan interactions with customers to transfer knowledge and share best practices, utilizing relationships across the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with Animal Health Technical Service to create customized value propositions and identify sales opportunities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Strategic Accounts Team to learn and share best practices.
  • Create account-specific business plans.
  • Analyze sales results monthly and manage expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Develop an understanding of the company's products, industry trends, and competitor landscape to influence sales trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Agriculture related discipline preferred).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of animal health sales experience.
  • Experience in beef markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated motivation and focus on achieving measurable results.
  • Ability to build internal relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Skills in planning, organization, communication, selling, and business acumen.
  • Must be able to travel overnight a minimum of 50%.
