About the position

The Court Runner position at HireRight involves conducting onsite research at courthouses in Madison and Jessamine counties, Kentucky, as well as performing some tasks remotely. The role is essential for processing background checks by retrieving and verifying criminal and civil case information. Court Runners are expected to maintain professionalism, adhere to productivity guidelines, and ensure accurate reporting of information to facilitate the hiring process for candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Process requests in a professional and timely manner according to Supervisor guidelines.
  • Conduct onsite research at courthouses to provide criminal or civil case information for background checks.
  • Utilize various court computer indexes and engage with court clerk staff to obtain complete and accurate case information.
  • Verify information provided by candidates and input case information into the HireRight WebCourt portal.
  • Communicate effectively with court clerk staff to ensure completeness of court records reported.
  • Provide status updates and estimated times of completion for requests.
  • Prioritize escalated client requests and ensure accurate turnaround on all reports.
  • Follow up on all requests, reports, and escalations in a timely manner.
  • Keep Supervisor informed of any issues regarding access to court systems or records.
  • Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement and suggest changes as necessary.
  • Assist team members and work collaboratively to meet customer expectations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience conducting criminal or civil records research or previous work in a court setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of word processing software (MS Word/Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with the background screening industry and court terminology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced, structured environment.
  • Knowledge of reading court cases and record filing.
